Duty Drawback Specialist- Fully remote

Full Time • Fully Remote - US
This role is essential in processing and managing drawback claims to recover duties
paid on U.S. imports on goods that have been exported or destroyed, while ensuring all
activities adhere to Customs and Border Protection rules and regulations. They work
closely with customers to maximize refunds and minimize financial risk for them while
managing their agreed-upon deadlines for work completion. They analyze trade data
and identify and implement ways to enhance duty savings and streamline the duty
drawback program.

Duties
  • Client Management: Serve as the main point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring clear communication and timely updates on the status of claims
  • Claim Processing: Manage the end-to-end process for duty drawback claims, including data entry, claim validation, and submission
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure department and customer goals are met efficiently and effectively
  • Problem Resolution: Identify potential challenges in the claims process and work collaboratively with the team to find and implement solutions
  • Data Analysis: Utilize high-level analytical skills to process and manipulate data to compile drawback claims
  • Communication: Serve as the point of contact with clients and internal departments to provide updates on the completion of work and to resolve any open issues or questions
  • Other work as assigned by management

    Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications. Typing speed of 60+ words per minute with strong 10-key experience
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Intermediate written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data and claims
  • Minimum 3 years working for a customs broker filing customs entries

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred NEI Certified Customs Specialist or Licensed Customs Broker
  • Preferred AS400 experience
  • Basic knowledge in using Microsoft Excel, experience with using various functions like formulas, VLOOKUPs, and PivotTables
  • Good knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classification, and import/export rules
  • Preferred experience in filing duty drawback claims for a customs broker
